: Nalu Nosara is in Playa Guiones, Nosara — a Blue Zone beach town on the Nicoya Peninsula of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The property sits steps from one of Central America's finest surf breaks. Liberia Airport (LIR) is the closest gateway, about 2.5–3 hours by car or a 15-minute charter flight. San José (SJO) is a 30-minute local flight.

: There are two villa collections, both designed by Studio Saxe. The Nalu Collection — Sol, Flor, Sombra, Mar, and Jardín — is our main property, set in a lush jungle compound steps from the beach. The Makai Collection — Ohana, Lani, and Skai — is our sister property, located one block away with ocean views. Important to note: the two collections are on separate properties. If you're booking villas across both (for example, Skai and Sol together), your groups will be staying at different locations a short walk apart. All eight villas have private saltwater pools, fully equipped kitchens, air conditioning, and high-speed WiFi, with access to the shared studio and concierge.
: Yes — every villa has its own private saltwater pool, exclusive to that villa. Guests never share pool access.
: Playa Guiones — directly in front of the property — is one of the most consistent beach breaks in Central America. The dry season (December–April) brings gentler conditions ideal for beginners; the rainy season (May–November) brings larger swells for experienced surfers. The concierge team can arrange board rentals, lessons, and guided sessions.
: The private concierge handles every aspect of your stay — surf lessons, yoga sessions, spa treatments, private chef dinners, restaurant bookings, airport transfers, excursions (zip-lining, waterfall hikes, wildlife tours), grocery pre-stocking, and bespoke requests. The aim is the freedom of a private villa with the attentiveness of a boutique hotel.
: Yes. Nalu Studio is the property's dedicated wellness space — yoga, movement classes, and personal training, with a rotating roster of instructors. Nalu Retreats runs multi-day immersive programs throughout the year combining surf, movement, and restoration.
: Sustainability is built into every layer of the property. Supplies are sourced locally. Hiring prioritises the Nosara community. The interiors use recycled wood and materials crafted by local artisans. Our BioNest wastewater treatment system recycles water used across the property and gives it a second life irrigating the gardens and tropical landscaping. Studio Saxe's bioclimatic architecture uses passive cooling, natural ventilation, and local materials to minimise energy load while maximising the connection between inside and outside.

: Nalu Nosara is exceptionally well suited to families. The gated compound provides a safe, contained environment for children to move freely. Several villas include bunk rooms, daybeds, and configurable sleeping arrangements for mixed-age groups. Cribs and high chairs are available on request. The concierge team can arrange childcare, family surf lessons, kids' ocean sessions, and family cooking experiences. The Nalu villas are a short, flat walk from the beach; the Makai villas are perched on a hill, a short walk down to the sand.
: Yes. Nalu Retreats is the property's dedicated retreat programme. It's available to both established retreat leaders and first-time organizers. Nalu handles all logistics — accommodation, studio scheduling, local experiences, and airport transfers — so retreat leaders can focus entirely on their guests. : After your reservation is confirmed, the Nalu concierge team reaches out directly to begin planning your stay. They'll ask about your group, your interests, and any requests — then start building your itinerary before you arrive. On arrival day, the villa is prepared and a team member is available to welcome you. Throughout your stay, the concierge team is reachable for anything from same-day restaurant bookings to surf sessions arranged for the following morning.
: Nalu Nosara is the only collection of architect-designed villas by Studio Saxe available for private rental in Nosara — a firm published in Dezeen, Architectural Digest, Dwell, and Wallpaper*. Unlike standard vacation rentals, every villa includes access to a private concierge, an on-property wellness studio, and a retreat programme. Unlike hotels, every villa is fully private with its own pool, kitchen, and entrance. The property is founder-owned and operated — the people who built it live in Nosara full-time.
: Six kilometres of beach. A consistent break that works for every level. Dry season is offshore and glassy at dawn. Green season brings bigger swell and a jungle so full it hums. Both are worth the trip.

From Makai, you overlook Playa Guiones — the beach, the shops, the life of the town all close by. A short walk down the hill and you're there. Both collections share the same concierge team and studio access. If you are booking villas across both properties for a group, your guests will be staying a short walk apart — worth knowing before you book.
: The closest airport is Liberia (LIR) — about 2.5 to 3 hours by car or 15 minutes by charter flight to Nosara's local airstrip (NOB). San José (SJO) is a 5-hour drive or a 30-minute local flight on Sansa or Green Airways. We can also arrange a private charter on Carmon Air, or a helicopter transfer from Liberia, San José, or anywhere else in the country — our concierge team can organise all of it. Once in Nosara, the Nalu villas are on Calle Los Mangos, Playa Guiones — take Route 160. We recommend renting a car or arranging a transfer in advance. For stays in our Makai villas, you will be emailed step-by-step directions on how to access the property.
: Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability — write to us and we'll do our best.
: You can receive a partial refund if you cancel in writing at least 60 days before your scheduled arrival date. All cancellations are subject to a 10% cancellation fee, deducted from your refund. If you cancel within 60 days of your arrival date, you are responsible for the full reservation cost. No refund will be issued. As a small, high-end villa property, once reserved, your dates are removed from the market. We are unable to offer refunds or date changes within 60 days of arrival for any reason, including illness, injury, or travel disruptions. No refunds will be given for early departures. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking to protect against unforeseen events.
: No pets. No smoking anywhere on the premises. No open fires. No house parties or excessive noise. No modifications to the property without written consent. Guests are responsible for any damage caused during their stay. Children must be supervised at the playground at all times. Swimming is at your own risk. The property is privately owned — the homeowners are not responsible for accidents, injuries, or loss of personal belongings. These properties operate under the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica.
